About Bike Marrickville

Bike Marrickville is a volunteer-run not for profit group of local residents promoting cycling and improving the local environment. Bike Marrickville advocates for everyone who rides or would like to ride a bike in and around the former local government area of Marrickville in Sydney's inner west.

Vision
Our vision is for a safe, healthy, vibrant community where people can easily get around by walking and cycling, in order that the personal, community and environmental benefits of more sustainable transport can be realised. We also regard public transport services as essential.

Activities
We provide information, advice and rides for members of the local community and local schools. We can help less experienced cyclists with route advice and in some cases a buddy service, where we will find someone to ride with you for the first day or week or more. We can answer questions on road rules for cyclists and what to do if you have a problem on the road. We arrange workshops to teach the basics  of bicycle maintenance.

How we work
Bike Marrickville meets at 7.00 pm on the third Tuesday of each month to discuss local issues, cycling facilities and promote cycling. Meetings
generate new ideas for rides and provide a forum to discuss cycling issues and projects with representatives from Inner West Council.

Bike Marrickville members attend Inner West Council Traffic Committee meetings, and other site visits and consultations.
